Restrictions The Buechel Fund awards grants in the areas of research, education and patient care, generally ranging from $25 to $20,000. Grants can be used to support ongoing medical research, education and patient care. Grants may not fund more then 10% of administrative costs. Grants are usually awarded in March and September. The deadline for grant applications is January 15 and July 15. Applications can be obtained by mail or telephone. The Buechel Patient Care Research and Education Fund was founded in 2002 as a means of furthering ongoing patient care, research and education efforts in the field of orthopaedic surgery and biomedical engineering. In addition, the fund was established to serve as a source of assistance for patients and students with special needs to improve their quality of life. The fund supports medical institutions, schools and universities, providing financial support for medical research, scholarships and patient care. While the fund has a special interest in orthopaedics,
