How to Apply Interested applicants must submit the following materials: Ikeda Center Education Fellows Application Form, a curriculum vitae, a dissertation abstract summarizing the focus of the accepted dissertation topic, a dissertation prospectus describing the topic to be explored, a timeline for completion, a short personal statement, a writing sample, a graduate transcript, and two letters of recommendation (one from a professor familiar with the student's academic work and one from the dissertation director/chair, whose letter should assess the contribution that the dissertation will make to the field of humanistic educational philosophy and practice as well as comment on the expected timeline).
Restrictions The Ikeda Center For Peace, Learning, And Dialogue, Inc.'s Education Fellows Program supports doctoral dissertations on any aspect of the philosophy and practice of Soka Education, including its relation to the philosophy and practice of education more generally. The Ikeda Center invites a wide range of approaches, including dissertation research that: compares and contrasts Soka Education with other systems of education carried out anywhere in the world; or focuses entirely on the philosophy and/or practice of Soka Education; or examines Soka influenced educational efforts in K-16 non-Soka settings.
