How to Apply
Any Board member or Committee member may submit any publication for award consideration by notifying the CWA Executive Director of the publication or other materials indicating journalistic accomplishment e.g. audiotape videotape etc.. Additionally editors of the major California-based newspapers can nominate articles or series of articles that they believe meet the award criteria. Each eligibility period shall run from July 1-June 30. The deadline for submitting eligible articles or other materials for each award cycle will be posted on the organization's website at http: www.caichildlaw.org price-awards.htm. Submissions should be submitted to: Elisa Weichel Children's Advocacy Institute USD School of Law 5998 Alcala Park San Diego CA 92110 619 260-4806 Awards are presented for excellence in journalism or scholarship that advance the public knowledge and understanding of issues impacting the health and well-being of children and youth.
Restrictions
The Committee will meet by telephone in person or by mail survey and rank the nominated materials. The Committee will submit its recommendations to the CWA Board. The criteria for committee ranking is as follows: A. JOURNALISM 1. IMPORTANCE OF THE SUBJECT 2. ADVANCEMENT OF THE PUBLIC UNDERSTANDING OF THE SUBJECT 3. QUALITY OF THE WRITING B.
