How to Apply REQUEST GUIDELINES1.Directors will request a proposal from an identified organization that meets the special interests of the Foundation in a given year.2.All requests should be submitted by April 20 for review in June. The Smith Foundation will send out letters of response by August 1. Please note these dates are guidelines only. 3.Because the Smith Foundation employs no professional staff, no follow-up letters or phone calls will acknowledge receipt of requests for funds.4.All organizations requesting funds must complete a Summary Request Form. 5.Organizations applying to the Smith Foundation for the first time, or previously funded organizations seeking funds for new projects must also submit one copy of the grant proposal. The proposal must include the following information:a.Statement of need;b.Description of the proposed project and how it meets the stated need;c.Qualifications of the responsible personnel;d.Description of the organization which will run the project;e.Description
Restrictions 1.The Smith Foundation prefers to fund a limited number of projects where the Directors are personally involved.2.The Smith Foundation prefers to fund projects that support education, social concerns, health and the arts.3.The Smith Foundation has a special focus to support projects that deliver services to youth,families and people with special needs.4.The Smith Foundation prefers not to fund building projects.5.No grants are made either to individuals or to private foundations.6.The Smith Foundation reviews grants annually. The proposal deadline guideline is April 20.
