Grant Criteria: GRANTS ARE MADE TO PUBLIC CHARITIES AND/OR GOVERNMENTAL ENTITIES FOR PROJECTS THAT ARE CONSISTENT WITH THE FOUNDATION'S MISSION STATEMENT. PREFERENCE IS GIVEN TO SOUTHEASTERN NM CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS, BUT DOES NOT EXCLUSIVELY LIMIT GRANT RECIPIENTS. JACK MADDOX DISTINGUISHED SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: AN INDEPENDENT SCHOLARSHIP SELECTION COMMITTEE SCREENS APPLICATIONS, SELECTS UP TO 15 SEMI-FINALISTS TO INTERVIEW, THEN CHOOSE FIVE FINALISTS. FINALISTS ARE INTERVIEWED AND ONE IS SELECTED TO RECEIVE THE JACK MADDOX DISTINGUISHED SCHOLARSHIP AWARD WHICH PAYS FULL TUITION, REQUIRED FEES, TEXTBOOKS, AND ROOM & BOARD. THE REMAINING FOUR FINALISTS RECEIVE A $20,000 SCHOLARSHIP FOR FOUR YEARS OF UNDERGRADUATE STUDY. TO SUPPORT THE FIVE SCHOLARS IN ACCEPTANCE TO THEIR SCHOOL OF CHOICE THEY ARE ALSO PROVIDED A COLLEGE COUNSELOR, COST REIMBURSEMENT FOR ATTENDING A REGIONAL COLLEGE FAIR, AND UP TO $250 FOR COLLEGE APPLICATION FEES. ALL SEMI-FINALISTS RECEIVE A NOTEBOOK COMPUTER.
