The Foundation has set aside funds to establish a Veterinary Training Scholarship Fund designed to address the shortage of veterinary professionals in underserved areas of Nebraska and Iowa. This project is an extraordinary undertaking that falls outside the scope of the Foundation's regular, ongoing grantmaking activities. The project involves the creation of a structured, multi-year scholarship program that provides financial assistance to veterinary students who commit to serving in high-need communities. Implementation will include program design, scholarship disbursements, recipient monitoring, and formal partnerships with accredited veterinary schools. Given the project's scope, the required funding constitutes a substantial expenditure relative to the Foundation's assets and income. The set-aside is essential to ensure the program's long-term success and to support the Foundation's broader mission of improving animal health and access to veterinary care. The amounts set aside for this project will be paid for the project within 60 months of the date of the set aside. The project will not be completed before the end of the 2024 taxable year. Distributable amounts for past tax years:- Tax year 2023: $25,730.Aggregate amount of actual payments made for purposes described in section 170(c)(1) or (2)(B):- Tax year 2023: $0.- Tax year 2024: $0.
