How to Apply
A simple statement of the purpose of the proposed grant-how it will be used, what project will be supported, etc. Required application materials: 1. IRS tax exemption determination letter. The charity must be recognized as a public charity-not a private foundation. 2. The charity's employer identification number. 3. The charity's most recent financial statements showing: a. A statement of the charity's revenue and expense, showing the charity's sources of support and expenditures for its most recent year. Expense categories should include compensation of management and interest paid on loans secured by real property, if any. b. The charity's balance sheet. 4. The charity's budget for revenue and expense for the current year and, if available, the charity's budget for revenue and expense for the coming year. 5. The average percentage of donations to the charity used for fund raising during the last 2 years.
Restrictions
Priority is given to smaller public charities located in the San Francisco Bay Area, including Sacramento, California. Education and human services are favored. The foregoing is not intended to be a complete list of priorities. Written solicitations only. The Foundation has no paid staff and does not acknowledge the receipt of applications. Successful applicants will be notified by mail, which mail will include a check for the amount of the grant authorized by the Foundation. Grants generally do not exceed $5,000.
