Gulf Coast Center is a community based behavioral health Intellectual Developmental Disability Center and a governmental entity that servesas the Local Mental Health Authority and Certified Community Behavorial Health Clinic for Galveston and Brazoria Counties in Texas. It is theprimary outpatient behavioral health provider for the public state system of care in Galveston and Brazoria Counties in Texas. GCC overcomesgaps and fragmentation of care and removes barriers to care for populations with serious and persistent mental illness emotional disturbances,and substance use disorders. Since 1969 Gulf Coast Center has provided a multitude of services in the areas of behavioral health including the integration of mental health disorder and substance use disorder services and intellectual and developmental disability services. GCC specializes in providing care coordination and wrap around services for individuals with acute and co occurring diagnoses across healthcare disciplines.

The Galveston Island Hurricanes is a year-round swim club affiliate of USA Swimming; offering both swim lessons and a competitive swim team. GIST has training and practice groups for swimmers ages 4-18 and all ability levels. The goal is to offer age specific training for all registered athletes geared towards challenging and developing each individual to the best of their abilities.

Initially, our goal was to reach and serve 125 clients at our center. However, from April to December, GCTPC has served 410 clients. Of that total, 44.2% are Black, 41.5% are Hispanic, and 13.3% are White, and 0.1% are Asian. Our participants ages range from 17 to 42, but we noticed that most clients are between 18 and 25. Geographically, we have served clients in the following cities of Galveston County and outside of the County. Galveston 102, Texas City 114, La Marque 47, Hitchcock 26, Friendswood 1, Dickinson 32, League City 8, Bacliff 7, Santa Fe 2, Pearland 2, and Houston 41. Parenting classes are provided weekly and 22% of our clients have participated. 53 services have been provided, whether a class, virtual course, or counseling session.Our Family Connections Program is funded by the Episcopal Health Foundation. The Christina Sullivan Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit public charity created by her family to assist children and adults with intellectual or physical challenges. Christina was severely brain-injured and had a seizure disorder diagnosed with cerebral palsy and quadriplegic. Even though she could not speak a word, she said volumes in what she taught each person who knew of her or had the blessing to be with her. She was loved by so many, but the most beautiful attribute of her life is that she lived. Today, the Christina Sullivan Foundation teaches the importance of learning, working, playing, and living in an inclusive world.
